Parent/carer information
Our therapeutically informed online SEN (Special Educational Needs) school specialises in high-quality education for 11- to 18-year-olds. We aim to re-engage young people missing from education by providing a safe and flexible online learning environment which can be accessed from home.
The young people we support typically have a primary need related to Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), anxiety and emotionally based school avoidance, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH).
An established SEN provider
We have four day SEN schools throughout England, which means we're an established provider of SEN education and understand how unique an individual's learning journey can be.
Our online platform follows Esland’s tried and tested Turning the Curve™ education model to support children back into learning. The model offers a flexible, bespoke, and inclusive curriculum underpinned by therapeutic support.
This approach enables our diverse and highly skilled team of tutors and teachers to work closely with our in-house clinicians. Together, they empower our students' academic growth, emotional well-being, and personal development and help them rediscover a love of learning.
We take care of the tech
To access our platform, we give every student their own laptop with all the relevant access, safeguarding, and security software preinstalled. We aim to make logging into lessons as seamless as possible to avoid any unnecessary distractions or delays.
Our virtual classrooms are low-pressure environments where staff communicate with students in a consistent and empathetic manner. We believe reassurance and encouragement are key to helping those who have struggled in traditional school settings engage with their learning again.
We keep our virtual classrooms small (up to 5 people where appropriate) so that everyone gets the personalised focus they need to flourish and to ensure students feel comfortable and able to express themselves freely.
Professional, personalised and progressive
Our diverse and highly skilled team take their time getting to know students, not just as learners but as individuals, and they pay attention to their interests and hobbies. This helps foster an environment of trust and confidence, which makes lessons more engaging and stimulating.
While students can stay within our online school long term, our aim is to prepare them for face-to-face learning again, and our Turning the Curve™ model has supported many young people on that journey.
Our ultimate goal is to help students find a clear pathway back to school or a suitable long-term educational provision to continue their academic development and prepare them for further education, employment, or training.
