A safe and responsible online learning experience

At Esland Online School, the safety of our students is our top priority, which is why we’ve invested heavily in the most robust and advanced systems available. Laptops for every student

We provide all our students with their very own laptops. Each device comes complete with all the relevant access, safeguarding and security software preinstalled so that students can dive straight into their lessons without any delays or distractions.

Easy access to lessons

Students access our lessons via Microsoft Teams for Education. The platform serves as a central hub for communication and learning and provides a collaborative space for students and teachers to interact and engage with each other. They can use the platform to participate in live classes, group activities, assignments and discussion boards and receive feedback from their teachers.

Keeping our students safe

For safeguarding purposes, we use the Smoothwall platform, which monitors online interactions and ensures a safe digital space free from bullying, inappropriate content, and harmful behaviours. Smoothwall uses advanced AI technology to track student activity and flag any suspicious or concerning actions for further review. This system protects students while they engage in online education, giving our staff, parents, and carers ultimate peace of mind.

Monitoring progress and engagement

Learning from home is a very different experience from being in the classroom environment, so to track progress and engagement, we use a system called Senso. Senso allows real-time monitoring of students' activity on their laptops, providing teachers and school administrators with detailed insights into their productivity. It lets our teachers know if students stray off task, helping to maintain focus throughout the learning process.

Secure data storage 

To comprehensively manage student data, including grades, attendance, and reports, we use a platform called Bromcom. This system ensures teachers and administrators can access essential information, streamlining the online school's operations. We also use a tool called CPOMS, which provides a dedicated safeguarding service that tracks incidents, welfare concerns, and student well-being. The seamless integration of both systems ensures that all staff members are informed and equipped to offer timely support to students when needed, creating a holistic approach to student care.
