About Us

Welcome to Esland’s Online School

We are a therapeutically informed online SEN (Special Educational Needs) school specialising in high-quality education for 11 to 18 year-olds. We aim to re-engage young people missing from education by providing a safe and flexible online learning environment.

The young people we support typically have a primary need related to Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), anxiety and emotionally based school avoidance, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH).

Why is our online school important?

According to the Children’s Commissioner report, Children Missing Education: The Unrolled Story (2024) over 100,000 children are missing education in England. Unfortunately, a disproportionate number of these young people have Special Educational Needs (SEND) and are Looked After Children (LAC).

Esland Online School offers a lifeline to young people who are missing education. We follow Esland’s tried and tested Turning the Curve™ education model to support children back into learning. The model offers a flexible, bespoke, and inclusive curriculum underpinned by therapeutic support.

What makes our online school unique?

With four day SEN schools throughout England, we're an established provider of SEN education and understand how unique an individual's learning journey can be.

Our Turning the Curve™ education model enables us to seamlessly blend education and therapeutic support, allowing our diverse and highly skilled team of tutors and teachers to work closely with our in-house clinicians.

Together, they empower our students' academic growth, emotional well-being, and personal development and help them rediscover a love of learning.

How do students access our online school?

Our students can access everything from their home, where they can learn in a way that suits their needs. We provide each student with their own laptop with all the relevant access, safeguarding and security software preinstalled.

Our virtual classrooms are warm, welcoming and safe spaces where everyone's abilities and needs are valued and respected. We keep them small (up to 5 people) so that each student gets the focus and attention they need to flourish.

What is our main objective for our students?

While students can stay within our online school long term, our aim is to prepare them for face-to-face learning again, and our Turning the Curve™ model has supported many young people on that journey.

Our ultimate goal is to help students find a clear pathway back to school or a suitable long-term educational provision to continue their academic development and prepare them for further education, employment, or training.
